History - One Mother's Motivation

We were founded in 1982. A local mother couldn’t find
a school in the area that satisfied her ideal ethos for
educating 3 to 7 year-old children. She had high
expectations for her sons. Instead Susan Segal opened
her own co-educational school – St John’s
Wood Pre-Preparatory School
Originally called St John’s Wood Junior Preparatory School, the school began with just eight pupils – found by Susan canvassing like-minded mothers.
Over the years the school has always enjoyed excellent results. A very high percentage of children entering their parents first-choice of school. This is testament to the ongoing strategy of placing a high teacher/pupil ratio above all other considerations.
Since I joined the school I shared the vision to create a school based upon a personal and nurturing approach toward every individual in its care.
As the school’s proprietor since 2002 I have great pleasure in developing our fantastic ethos and aiming to be the best.
